Blog 7/ Tag, you're it- The Thinker

Let's continue the bodacious blogging bonanza this week!  I'm going to try something different, but it's going to take a concerted class effort to be effective.  For this week's blog, we'll tag team topics.  Here's the way it works. I'll post the original topic for ONE person to comment upon.  The person who responds to my topic first, must then write a topic for discussion for the next person to take.  No two people can respond to the same topic or post the same topic for discussion.  To keep things organized, when responding to someone's topic, use Attn: ___ (Student's Name) and for the topic you choose write Attn: Class.   Does this make sense?

You can be as creative as you want with this assignment. Perhaps you want your peers to write a response in the form of a poem, or take on a new persona. You can have them to do a creative writing piece or present a thematic topic.  Either way, have fun. Tag, you're it!

A creative writing prompt for you:

Assume to persona of a season and write a letter of apology to an animate or inanimate object. Develop your writing enough to demonstrate the personification of the season and the circumstances surrounding the apology.

Assignment Update & Other

 

I hope that this message finds you, your family and your friends and neighbors well.  I'm certain you've maximized your time off, completing a few assignments and most importantly giving thanks for the many blessings we have.  There are so many families suffering right now.

Michelle Jorgensen, the Media Specialist at Clarkdale Elementary shared this information with us this morning:  "Many of our families lost their homes in this flood. In the near future, Ewing Road Baptist Church will be a "clothes closet" and will be accepting clothes and food donations so our families can receive help. Many of them left their homes with only the clothes they were wearing.  We do not know the details yet but hopefully will know more after we meet as a staff this morning." 

If you'd like to donate or if the class would like to contribute with either clothing, school supplies or money, let me know and we'll find a way to make a difference.

Even though I haven't seen you since last Friday, let's keep our plans for the following:

Poetry Response #1 Due-Thurs. 9/24 (You have these electronic files in the Poetry folder.)

MWDS-Due Fri. 9/25 (You will do peer editing in class on Friday and turn in a final copy on Monday. Each student must have his/her own copy for the group to get credit. You only have to submit one to be graded, but I want to make sure that everyone has a copy for the AP exam.)

Blog 6/Creative Writing

For the blog this week, choose one of the following images and write a short, short story or a narrative poem. At some point, you must descibe explicitly either the action, setting, or character represented in the picture. Remember  the short story plot line: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Though nontraditional in style, the selection "Girl" is an example of a short, short story you can consider when writing.  Also, the last line of your story should be... "And then the sky turned inward." Random, yes, but that should make your posts even more interesting. I can't wait to read these.   Happy posting, Ms. T.
